Chapter Descriptions

Introduction

Sebastien takes you through the basic points of the video while outlining some finer points of the various skills to learn.

Depth And Normals

In this chapter, we look at baking maps for a high resolution model from XNormals to a lower resolution mesh, outputting colorID and normal maps.

Texture Renaming

Learn how to assign a texture set on your mesh and prepare it so that Substance Painter will recognize it as a different material ID in BOTH 3DSMax and Maya. We show multiple workflows to allow the most amount of customers the opportunity to adhere this technique to their workflow.

Substance Baker

This in-depth look of the most powerful way of baking by names using Substance Painter’s Baker without any need to explode meshes apart.

Creating Materials

In this part of the video, we will go through how to build both masks and materials to create textures demonstrating how powerful Substance Painter can be and how quickly the software can generate the final product.

Materials And Exporting

We will then do an overview of all the layers and passes that the models were created with to achieve the final result. Then we export textures to be ready for a renderer or a game engine.

Marmoset Render

The final chapter consist of a integration into Marmoset Toolbag 2 as example of the integration from a substance painter into a game engine.
